Biggie Smalls “Big Poppa” Lyrics Song Meaning and Review

Verse 1

Biggie delivers us all to a ’90s club scene, where he’s still the king. He goes on to describe his presence in the club and begins to spread his webs of seduction everywhere.

Biggie begins with the classroom; “To all the ladies of the place with style and grace.” He speaks to the ladies with style and grace, except for the broke gold diggers. Its hooks are in it. But he wastes no time. The second line of the verse goes straight for the kill.

Let me lace those lyrical showers in your bushes (Uh)

“Bushes” is a common slang used to describe a woman’s sexual organs covered with natural hair. Biggie knows the impact his words have on women. Its style and flow are like a douche, which is used to clean the inside of said sexual organs. His words encourage the ladies to ask for more. Biggie plays on the idea that his songs and his stature make women fall in love with him.

Biggie knows his place in the club is in the back. This is where the VIP sections are located. This is where the drinks served are good, and the ladies are classier. Biggie says he’ll sip Moët & Chandon champagne and smoke weed on it. At the end of this verse, Biggie reveals that he smokes Chronic, a very high quality weed variety.

Biggie doesn’t have a hidden agenda. It is clear that he is here to “crawl” or have short secret sessions with women. But for someone as big as Biggie, it must be pretty tough. And everyone wants to make a quick buck from someone else’s fame; “Why blow up my place because we both got hot?” “

But then again, Biggie doesn’t try to hide the fact that he’s rich either. He says he has enough money to feed the needy in New York City, and even his friends are in the same income bracket. They all drive Mercedes Benzes. Biggie tries to say that there is no need to rip him off, he has enough money to take care of his adventures.

The song hook is an iconic club vibe.

I love it when you call me Big Poppa

Biggie is also yelling at all real gamers and gold diggers. The real struggle continues in the club – the men who want women to sleep with them and the women who try to rip a jerk off for money.

Biggie also talks about the dangers that were still lurking in those clubs back then. He asks the gentlemen not to shoot the spot, which seems like a strange request, but it was a real fear at the time. Biggie would like to have some simple pleasures with a woman tonight that would be wasted if there was a shootout.

“Back in the day” was just for the dramatic effect Biggie wants to bring to this song. Club shootings are quite common even today, due to the dire lack of gun control regulations.

Verse 2

The second verse kicks off with Biggie explaining to the ladies that he’s got more game than the average Joes they meet in the non-VIP sections of the club.

Who do they attract with that line (What?), “What’s your name?” What’s your sign? “

Biggie says asking a woman’s name and her zodiac sign isn’t “flirting.” It won’t make any guy fuck. So what does Biggie suggest? How does Biggie Smalls flirt with a girl at the club?

And ask yourself what are your interests, who you are with
The things that make you smile, the numbers to dial
Are you going to stay here for a while? I’m gonna call my crew, you’re gonna call your crew
We can meet at the bar around 2 a.m. (Come on)

Damn ! He asks what is his interest ?! The lady must answer. What are some things that make her smile ?! She has to answer that. However, Biggie is not clingy. He doesn’t mind these ladies partying at the club until it’s time to leave around 2am. Biggie will be reunited with these women when the club closes and it will be time to find a place to spend the night.

Next, Biggie describes his usual routine after 2 a.m. Pick up the girl (s), give the car keys to Little Cease (Biggie’s right hand man) and drive to the hotel. On the way to the hotel they will take some “Welch’s T-bone Steak, Cheesy Eggs and Grapes.” Yum!

On the way to the hotel, Biggie changed his mind – instead of the hotel, he takes the party to his home, where he can freely smoke his weed and don it in the hot tub.

Verse 3

In the song’s third verse, Biggie explains how he is now bathed in luxury. He says he lives in a mansion and drives Benzes. But he is generous. He shares his luxury with his friends so that they can make ends meet.

“One Dollar and a Dream” is a popular slogan promoted by the New York State Lottery. It also highlights the idea that in America you only need a dollar and a dream to do it. However, at this point in his life, Biggie couldn’t and doesn’t have to worry about such matters. He doesn’t have to wait for luck to hit him with lottery wins to make him rich. His skill already made him rich.

Money, bitches and clothes: everybody knows (all guys know)
Crazy fun? No matter

Biggie knows what the life of the rich and the rich is like: making money and spending it on women and clothes. Is this way of life crazy? Maybe, but it feels good.

Biggie also went back to the days when he had to sell drugs, cocaine to be precise, to make ends meet. Until he landed gold with his music, times were tough. In 1991 Biggie was arrested for cracking trafficking and had to spend 9 months in jail before posting bail. His musical success is equated with a “buried treasure”, he had to dig and dig for it.

In the present, Biggie is doing very well. He doesn’t have to take drugs to make money anymore. He flexes, saying he wears Coogi sweaters, which he has done quite often in real life.

That being said, what Biggie is trying to say is that he’s “the man” to every girl he meets.

“Big Poppa” certainly sent a message about Biggie’s transition to a ladies’ man as opposed to a full-fledged gangsta.
