Logic – Cocaine (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

“Cocaine” is the 11th track on Logic’s brand new fifth studio album “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” released on May 10, 2019.

Logic teased a snippet of that audio in late 2018 on its Instagram Stories and has sparked quite a bit of controversy ever since. However, the song is hardly about white powder, but rather about the oppression of blacks by whites.

Logic fails to name some of the devastating drugs that have spread like cancer in society, killing and damaging millions of young people. Cocaine to Molly or MDMA to Percocet (a medicine taken for moderate to severe pain relief) have all infected society.

“Cocaine” is causing a stir in favor of the African American community around the world. Logic mentions the annual “Freaknik” party for African American high school and college students in the form of spring break in Atlanta. The party was stopped in 2010 and made a comeback in 2019. Logic also mentions Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino as a formidable figure of African-American cultural icons.

In the second verse of “Cocaine”, Logic goes much stronger against the injustice caused by the streets of America towards the African American populations. He talks about how society inherently wants black people to fail. Then later, society wants to jail them because black people have turned to other means of living. According to Logic, the entire system is down, with no green light on a fix. Prayers are therefore necessary!

Listen to Logic’s “Cocaine”

Logic raps some badly damaged elements of the modern world in his new album “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind”. From social media and drugs to broken systems and oppression, the album is a real eye opener in the veils of society. Then there are songs like “Homicide” with Eminem, which is all about praising each other’s rap prowess.
