Lyrics analysis and meaning of the song “Can’t Help Falling In Love”

Verse 1

Most of those who have been in love or in love say “don’t rush into love like a fool,” but Elvis feels like he has no choice in this situation. The “wise men” could be people older than Elvis, those who have known love, those who have failed in love, or simply philosophers on relationships. Whoever they are, their suggestion is to be cautious when it comes to love, for love is a walk on a sharp knife.

Elvis asks the girl if it would be a sin to love her and if it is good to be with her. There might be a hidden sexual innuendo in these lyrics from the Catholic view of premarital sex being considered sinful.

Elvis Presley is absolutely blown away by this girl. He can’t help but fall in love with this girl, and he thinks it’s not that stupid to rush into something he’s so sure about.

In Elvis’ eyes, he and this girl are meant to be together. It is also certain that all sources of water end up in the ocean. Just as the fate of a drop of water starting from the top of the Himalayan mountain range is to throw itself into the ocean, it is certain that it is meant to be with it. Serenade at its best!

Verse 2

Elvis wants to marry this girl, because why not? His intuition tells him that they will end up together anyway. With that, he is ready to fully commit to her as well.

From the song’s first verse, where Elvis says he’s in love with her, towards the end of the song, Elvis has already decided to spend the rest of his life with her. Things certainly seem to be moving fast. But if he is sure and if she is willing, what more can be expected!

“Can’t Help Falling In Love” will forever be considered one of the sweetest love songs ever written and sung. Elvis’ deep voice adds the necessary weight to this hymn to love, and you can tell he’s not joking with her.
