“I Don’t Do Drugs” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

The song plays on the idea that love and drugs can induce a certain psychological push in a person. Both can be equally powerful. However, drugs are bad! And Doja Cat and Ariana Grande agree!

You know you fucked me up
Got me stuck, chasing this rush

Doja Cat continues to sing about how she fell in love with that other person. It’s a love-hate relationship for her struggling with those feelings. For one thing, she can’t help but crave that sweet love from her partner more and more. On the other hand, she hates being so out of control.

In Ariana Grande’s second verse, the singer shares a similar obsession with her lover. Even on a simple FaceTime call, her lover craves more. Sparks fly all over her head whenever she is with them.

Ariana Grande also gives a subtle nod to Doja Cat herself playing on a cat’s purr while being cuddled. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, purrs every time she is stroked.

The two ladies sing how they can’t even hide their desires around their loved ones. They’re not mad either! They call their partners the “fix” they need from time to time. This fix goes beyond just kissing and we can all safely assume what this fix entails.
