CORPSE – 🌧️agoraphobic🌧️ | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

Corpse, also known as Corpse Husband, is a musician and internet personality based in San Diego, California. Since the start of his musical journey in 2016, Corpse has released a few songs that are both personal to him and around him. Corpse’s latest version “🌧️agoraphobia🌧️” is an example of the troubling emotions he goes through on a daily basis.

Corpse gained traction on YouTube after their hit song “E-GIRLS ARE RUINING MY LIFE!” in September 2020. He continues on this momentum with “🌧️agoraphobia🌧️” in October. He’s also done horror storytelling on YouTube and recently played the Among Us game with popular streamers like Pokimane, Dream, Disguised Toast, HasanAbi, Valkyrae, Sykkuno, and more.

The song title is derived from the actual health condition of “agoraphobia” which is “A type of anxiety disorder in which you fear and avoid places or situations that could make you panic and make you feel trapped, helpless or embarrassed. You fear a real or anticipated situation, such as using public transportation, being in open or closed spaces, standing in line, or being in a crowd.

According to Wikipedia, Corpse is a chronically ill, diagnosed with medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, thoracic outlet syndrome, and GERD, the latter being the cause of his extremely deep voice.

“🌧️agoraphobia🌧️” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

The song dives deep into the dark waters of Corpse’s mind. He talks about the state of his mind going through the daily cycles of life. And the themes are: depression, anxiety, paranoia, suicidal thoughts and the constant feeling of being inadequate!

In an interview with YouTuber Anthony Padilla, Corpse opened up about his life; “I have really bad anxiety. I never leave my house and feel like I’ve had other issues before, but it definitely made things more logical in my head, although it was probably irrational.

Until now, Corpse has never revealed his face or his true identity on the internet. What he said above are the main reasons for this decision. It would also not help his anxiety that he became more and more popular by the day.

In the same interview, Corpse mentioned that it would be somewhat redemptive to reveal his identity as a backlash to anyone who said he wasn’t going anywhere in his life as a kid. He tells how he dropped out of school at the age of 12, and all his friends and teachers thought he would mean nothing in life. Fast forward a few years, Corpse is a massive internet sensation with a massive fan base.

However, the wounds he suffered as a child have not yet healed; “Illness and well-being stole my adolescence” sings Corpse. It alludes to his illnesses mentioned above and the difficult upbringing he had at home.

Although he wants to break out of the shackles of his past, Corpse still struggles to feel wanted and appreciated in society. So he pours himself a glass of red wine and sips it while watching the rain fall outside.

Corpse says he likes it when it rains because he’s agoraphobic. The rain washes away everything, even the hordes of people in the streets. Anyone left in the street will cover themselves with jackets and umbrellas. Everyone suddenly becomes isolated, cut off from the rest of the masses. That’s when Corpse comes out!
