“Lost Cause” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Verse 1

In the song’s first verse, Billie Eilish sings about The Boy Who Could Not Be Saved. She specifically sings on a day when she was expecting to see him and as usual he didn’t show up. Maybe it was his birthday. Billie wonders if he really cares. But nothing matters now. She is above her. And this is evident in the clip, where Billie and her friends have unforgettable moments in the company of each other.

In these lyrics, Billie Eilish recalls a case where she sent flowers to her ex-boyfriend. She knows he didn’t care about the flowers at all, as she had found them wilting on the stairs of her house.

In the chorus of “Lost Cause”, Billie Eilish sings about how disappointed she is with this ex-boyfriend. She did her best to change his ways – to make him care about them. But he was just a lost cause.

In Billie’s previous single “Your Power”, she spoke about her ex-boyfriend Brandon Adams AKA 7: AMP. She revealed that Brandon had no interest in their relationship even though they were together.

In her recent documentary “Billie Eilish: The World Is A Little Fuzzy,” she opened up about her relationship with 7: AMP; “I just wasn’t happy. And I didn’t want the same things he did and I don’t think it was fair for him. I don’t think you should be in a relationship super excited about some things the other person just couldn’t care less about.

Verse 2

Billie Eilish was wrong about most of their relationship. She thought he was a shy guy who was just bad at expressing his emotions. But, it turned out that he had no emotion towards her to show.

Billie Eilish seems to reveal her personal past experiences before the release of her new album. Most of the themes are acidic. However, the best part about them is that they are in the past. So, at this point in her life, Billie Eilish is happier than ever!

Along with the release of the brand new album, Billie Eilish announced her much anticipated world tour with stops in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium and in Switzerland. Check all dates and locations and buy tickets on Ticketmaster.
