“I really, really, really, really hate myself,” begins Billie Eilish, explaining the inspiration and the meaning behind “i don’t want to be you anymore. “You can feel incredibly lost and horrible, and like you’re nothing and invisible, and for no reason, which is almost as bad as having a reason.”

“It’s so boring to feel like this all the time” continues Billie Eilish. “And it’s like somebody is saying ‘oh my gosh you’re so boring you break down so much you’re so sad all the time’ and I’m like ‘I know! I have to be in this bitch all the time. Like I know how boring it is.

In a nutshell, this song by Billie is about how she lacks the self-confidence to appreciate herself. She’s grown up to be a moody person, who breaks down inside twice a day, and she’d rather not be. With Genius, she also spoke about her depression;

“Even though I have a great life with a lot of wonderful things, I still faced depression. ‘idontwannabeyouanymore’ is about the times I felt that way. The real truth is that depression can happen to anyone, no matter who you are or what you have, and there is NO SHAME in admitting that you feel this way.

Critique of the lyrics and meaning of the song “idontwannabeyouanymore”

Verse 1

As seen in the clip above, Billie Eilish is talking to herself in the mirror. She wishes she didn’t separate, not once, but twice a day. It could be due to depression, frustration, or any other emotional turmoil she’s going through. Remember, Billie was only 15 when she wrote and performed this song. Therefore, all the internal and external pressures of teenage life affected her equally.

She would like to be able to feel what she is saying. This means if someone asks “how are you?” Our usual response would be “I’m fine” or “I’m fine”. Billie would love to feel like this. But she doesn’t, inside.

Her “mood” is a burden to her now. There could be many reasons affecting his mood swings. She wishes she could get rid of it. But she knows her too well and knows it’s part of her.

In the chorus for “idontwannabeyouanymore,” Billie talks about some of the pressures society exerts as a celebrity. She explains how models have to endure endless pain, including starvation, difficult exercise routines, makeup, surgeries, and more. to maintain their public appearance. The tears they shed in the process could fill the swimming pools.

More on the same subject; misconception of how clothes define your personality. All of this affects a singer as well. Billie Eilish, for her own good, almost always wears fully covered and loose clothing. content%2Fuploads%2F2017%2F02%2FBillie Eilish - Billie Eilish – idontwannabeyouanymore (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

“I love you” is a pretty light phrase these days. Even self-esteem has lost all meaning. To truly love yourself is also to prevent yourself from being belittled. So, considering how Billie feels about herself, there’s no self-esteem going on. Maybe she said she loved herself countless times in front of the mirror. She broke her oath.

Verse 2

In the second verse of “idontwannabeyouanymore”, Eilish talks about how she gets used to the thought of being broken. Getting “cold” is a reference to losing emotions. And when you lose emotions, the pain doesn’t affect you that much. How is she prone to so much despair? Is it made of a broken mold? These lines are powerful!

Billie endured all kinds of emotional pain since she was a child, growing up. She can’t seem to get rid of it. Maybe she thinks it would be better to get used to them than to force them. The reasons and exit, if any, are known only to Billie Eilish. No one else can help him. But it seems she hasn’t figured it out yet.

Under the soft voice and melodious air of “idontwannabeyouanymore” hides a deeper and sadder meaning taken directly from Billie’s life.
