21 Savage’s latest album ‘i am> i was’ is something special. Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph’s second studio album AKA 21 Savage is more of an exploration of himself, his experiences and his growth over the years. The album is about 21’s internal struggles, her successes, her failures, sex and even a tribute to her mother. In “All My Friends,” track 21, Savage gets help from Post Malone in interpreting the lyrics.

“all my friends” is the 7th track from the ‘i am> i was’ album released on December 21, 2018. It’s also one of the few tracks featuring a major featured artist, and Post Malone is said to be the ideal candidate for this track because both artists have acquired wealth and fame quite recently. Additionally, Post and 21 previously worked together on Post’s hit song “Rockstar,” which reigned on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for several weeks.

In “All My Friends,” 21 and Post explore how they seem to lose “friends” as they grow up and achieve fame and fortune. Their idea is that true friends stay no matter what, while fake ones fall behind because they have a lot of envy.

Lyrics and Meaning of “All My Friends” Song Lyrics

In the chorus of “All My Friends,” Post recounts how he lost friends during the few years he was in the limelight. Malone’s success story in music goes no further than 2015 when he released his groundbreaking track “White Iverson”. Since then he has enjoyed great success with songs such as “Rockstar”, “Psycho” and “Better Now”. During those three short years, Malone admits that he has lost several “friends” unable to keep up with his fame and fortune. However, he also admits that he doesn’t really need friends like these, realizing he’s better off without fake friends.

Post talks about his love for Bentleys and also refers to his diamond grilled teeth, once when they were all pink.

Verse 1

In the first verse of “All My Friends,” 21 Savage recounts how he has lost a few friends over the past two years. 21 gained great notoriety after releasing his first solo studio album “Issa Album” in 2017. The album peaked at No. 2 in the US and must have built up a significant bank for 21. He followed the album with an “Issa Tour”, which would also have pocketed him some serious money, but left him busy. Usually all successful artists follow the same path losing friends over the years mainly due to their busy schedules and lack of privacy on the streets.

21 said he still has friends who were there with him through thick and thin. “Bummy” is slang for a homeless person, who 21 admits he was at one point. However, now he remembers that he has a 12-car garage. Why? Because he has just bought 6 new cars in addition to the 6 he already owns.

According to YouTube, his car collection includes a Ferrari 488 GTB, a Bentley Bentayga, a Mercedes Maybach, an AUDI Q7, a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a Rolls Royce Wraith.

Savage also recalls that he went through real dark times, and even literal dark times, where they couldn’t afford to pay the electric bill.

Even Savage has the same opinion on losing friends as Post Malone. He really wouldn’t mind losing false friends, as he is aware that fame and fortune will run out one day.

Interesting how 21 specifically mentions confidence in those words. Can be learned from personal experiences, trust is the most important thing in any friendship or relationship.

Verse 2

Post Malone’s second verse takes up a theme similar to the first. Additionally, the singer recounts how he did it on his own and that no one was around when he prayed for a meal for tomorrow. Post also sneaks into his relationship with ex-girlfriend Ashlen Diaz, mentioning that he spent over $ 80,000 on the girl just to have her leave him in the end.

Malone also refers to his luxury cars in the song, especially the Rolls Royces. In September 2018, Post totaled his Rolls Royce Wraith and reportedly bought a Rolls Royce Phantom costing $ 420,000 the following month.

One message is clear in “all my friends” at 21 Savage and Post Malone. Fame has its advantages and pitfalls. Losing friends, real or fake, is a tragedy that will haunt superstars when they run out of fame and fortune. Many celebrities have driven themselves to suicide and depression in their last days.
